my approach to bodywork
I know how different massage is depending on who you go to: so let me give you a little introduction to my style as a practitioner before we meet. I tend to have a firm hand, resulting in medium to deep pressure tissue work, though craniosacral is quite light. We will determine together if being on the mat or the table is the best fit for that day. I combine relaxation and treatment work to help you breath and sink into your body as I find the best results happen when I work with your nervous system as well as the tissue. I draw on multiple cross-modality trainings to customize treatment.
Because of my trainings in multiple modalities, I see the whole body patterns and work with them. Sometimes your low pain is coming from your stomach, sometimes the cause of arm/hand pain or numbness comes from the neck, and sometimes jaw pain is caused by an restriction in your feet. I will always work where you ask, where it hurts. But I will also search for the cause of your pain.
My goal is for you come to me for physical and energetic maintenance work. I do believe bodywork should be ongoing because life is always ongoing! However, I don’t believe that pain should be ongoing. You shouldn’t have to cope with hurting all of time! Relief is completely possible, and I do all I can to help you find your relief.

thai bodywork
Thai bodywork is an ancient form of healing that originated from Reusi Dat Ton. Reusi’s are the masters in Thailand, the healers and the knowers. Reusi Dat Ton was a combination of Thai yoga and self massage. Over the years it is believed that because everyone couldn’t not learn the yoga moves for themselves, the Reusis would manipulate their body’s for them and work the Sen (energy pathways in the body). This became what we know now as Thai Massage.
There are many different styles of Thai massage these days. Depending where you go in Thailand you will receive different sessions. My focus is not on following one certain way but providing you with the way you need. Some sessions are deeply relaxing, calming to the system. Some are more invigorating to build up fire, motivation. Always the focus is on your energetic and physical body and what you need.

structural integration
Structural Integration is a form of bodywork developed by Ida Rolf. It focuses on releasing stuck fascia in the body through movement. My clients participate in their healing. This act of taking charge, participating, being responsible for their own wellness is part of what makes this work last. The body will not do things that the mind does not want it to. By actively participating the mind gets on board, and the body responds.
The releases that occur with this work results in straighter posture, increased range of motion and more fluid movement. There is also a large emotional component as there is with all bodywork. The more physically aligned we are the more energetically/emotionally aligned we are.

craniosacral therapy
Craniosacral therapy works directly with the different rhythms of your body to help find balance. Think of your heart beating, your blood does not continuously flow as the same speed, it is being pumped through the body, that is the same with all of the fluids of your body, from cerebral spinal fluid to lymph to fascia (which is more fluid-ish). This causes all the structures in your body to also move with this pumping motion. This work tends to focus around the movement of the bones and fluids in the head. While I do a lot of head focused work with this it is also applicable to the whole body, all of your joints and fascia are a part of this system.
As well as working on a mechanical level, craniosacral works with your nervous system. This is very helpful for helping to unwind trauma in the body. Trauma often does not like to be directed with force, like a deep tissue massage or forced joint manipulation. It wants to be listened to so that it can work through its pattern and unwind at its own pace. Trauma can look like anything from an old injury, even seemingly minor ones, to emotional trauma. All of this hits our nervous system and gets stored somewhere in the body. By being gentle we can address not only the mechanical way that a joint is moving, but also unwind the nervous system and work with the energetic body so that the joint doesnt want to go back to its old pattern after you leave the office. This work is amazing in its ability to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies all at once.
